Welcome to the American Collegiate Institute in Izmir. Founded by American educators and philanthropists in 1878, ACI is an independent, co-educational high school which prepares students for higher education in Turkey and abroad. ACI’s mission is to develop the personal, social and environmental responsibility of students who are bilingual in Turkish and English.

We are part of the Health and Education Foundatıon (SEV), a Turkish non-profit foundation. In addition to ACI, the SEV Foundation supports other leading high schools such as SEV American College, Tarsus American College and Uskudar American Academy. Please visit for more information.

Students enter ACI through the nationally-administered, private schools’ entrance exam administered in grade 8. We are considered one of the top schools in Turkey. ACI offers both the Turkish National Curriculum and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Program. We offer an intensive English preparatory program for all students prior to entering grade 9. ACI is accredited by the Turkish Ministry of Education and the Council of International Schools (CIS).

Known as the “Pearl of the Aegean,” the city of Izmir is the cultural, commercial and industrial center of Turkey’s Aegean Coast. Home to a population of around four million, Izmir is situated on a beautiful, large bay surrounded by mountains, only 80 km away is the ancient Ephesus archeological site, which housed one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

We would love you to consider both joining ACI and having the wonderful experience of living in the beautiful coastal region of Izmir, Turkey!

Best Wishes

Brad Bell
